Yeah, the MFT 7-14 is much smaller and lighter than I'd 'feared' based on people talking about it. It's internal focus and zoom (more or less), so doesn't change length in use.

In terms of reach, if you're one of those people (like me) that finds the 14/2.5 to be a perfectly great walk around lens for most purposes, stop dithering about whether to get the oly and spring for the panny.

What do you mean? I've bought the Pany, that's what this thread is about, I was just saying I used to have the Oly 7-14 so are familiar with that focal range.

Paul, did you consider any of the other "wide" options before making your purchase?

Geez...no one seems to actually be reading what is said in this thread. :-\

Paul - I probably would have gone for the 35-100 if were not for the price...I could only (barely) justify one high-end lens, and the 12-35 seemed more practical. I grabbed the 45-175 when B&H dropped the price to $300. For the time I use it (rarely), it's perfectly fine.

I think the 7-14; 12-35; 25; and 35-100 would be the ultimate kit as far as quality is concerned (given the 35-100 is as good as it's little brother).

There aren't any other super wide options (well the Pany 8mm but prefer the 7-14), I have the 9-18 but just fancied the 7-14 for it's bit extra wide angle.

Congrats, hope you like it and get lots of great shots with it - it's a fantastic lens!

I haven't had mine out in a while actually, maybe it's time to break that out for a day and force myself to see in UWA for a while

The 7-14m is an awesome lens. I just hired it for 2 weeks for video work. The angles are just incredible. Bought a 12-35 as a wide-ish zoom, which is more practical but now I'm getting a little frustrated that it's not wide enough after using the 7-14! Having said that I'm more than happy to just hire it as essentially it's a specialist lens.

The 7-14 is my favorite lens. Not my most used, because it's not a general purpose lens, but it gives me images that no other m43 lens can produce. For the right subjects, it's wonderful.

Speaking of GAS, I just picked up a Rokinon fisheye, too. I'm in Chicago on business, and just started playing around with it, and comparing it to the zoom, last night. Haven't even had a chance to review the images yet, but I think the FE will be as much fun as the 7-14, if even more limited in appropriate subject matter. The field of view kind of makes the 7mm seem like a "normal" wide angle.

It arrived yesterday, had a quick play with it, seems a nice lens.

Here's a couple of shots.
