Smile My Pana 12-35 arrived today; video unboxing and images.

Alrightee - my new Panasonic 12-35 arrived today (along with a jet-lagged friend from Japan). I have not had time to take the lens to shoot some people, but I did a quick unboxing (not professional level DigitalRev or SteveHuff unboxing, but you get the idea.) Actual photos taken with the lens forthcoming!

Here is the info and comparison in unboxing:

Congrats! Looks impressively compact next to the 100-300. May even be smaller than the Olympus 12-50...

I daresay a lot of people (me included) are eagerly awaiting your photos and impressions!

Have fun,

DH

I had borrowed a 12-50 briefly a couple weeks ago. It is seems smaller in length than the 12-50, but is a bit 'thicker' in diameter (obviously, given the constant 2.8).

And compared to a Canon 24-70/2.8 (same focal length and ~aperture as this one) Ive used in the past (3x the weight), this is a featherweight.

The 100-300 is 8 ounces heavier, but the weight is loooooong throughout the whole lens. With the 12-35, you 'feel' the weight in a more compact manner.

Video must have been taken with a m4/3 camera--ugh, the AF pulsing made me seasick Totally jealous, congrats! You forgot to mount it on a camera though.

Might be shorter but probably not once extended in use. Definitely not skinnier though--that 12-35 is a fatty.

I can't wait to see the real-world user images for this lens, looking forward to it!

Pictures! Impressions! Hurry!!!

Seriously, congrats.

It's...shinier...than I thought it would be. Interesting finish. Undecided how I feel about that. Don't really care either way I guess, but, interesting.
