I'm now here in Japan, and according to sales rep in one of the camera stores here, sales of this lens will start tomorrow.

As much as I want this lens, I could not afford it.

I already have the focal lengths covered by my current lens line up.

And it just shipped out, delivery on the 22nd...

However I'll just be leaving Europe for the US at that time. We'll see how long it takes to get there...

I don't have the 12 or the 25, therefore I'm getting this. Roughly the same cost and but I have to make do with OIS instead of 1 and 2 stops extra stops of light.

No option in the poll for my answer:

No, not right now. I almost never buy a new product right out of the gate. I'll wait to see more reviews, and user reports, and then decide. And since I don't have an immediate need for it, I'll probably wait and hope the price drops a bit, or used ones hit the market. Asking prices are apparently already falling in Europe.

But I am definitely interested in the lens, and if it performs as preliminary reviews say, I'll undoubtedly buy it eventually. It will probably handle most of my indoor needs quite well.

Maybe I'll wait and hope I can save some money on a GH3 + 12-35 kit.

^ That is what "MAYBE (will wait to decide)" is for. Unless it was added after your comment.

Absolutely. This will replace the unnecessarily large and slow AFing Leica D 14-50.

Hmm, I didn't see that when I first looked at this thread. Don't know if that means I missed it, or it was added just now. Well, I'll go and cast my vote.

Very likely as I've sold my 12mm, 20mm and 14-42 to get ready for this lens. I still have the 12-50 and 14 and will probably sell those too. So far the 45 is my keeper plus a 14-42 that turned out to be a good one. I'm hoping the 35-100 will come in under 1500. By the time the 35-100 comes out, perhaps Panny will have their new "pro" body and Oly the new OM-D or E-Px body.

One problem in the US is that it's hard enough to find say a 20mm or 25mm right now, let alone the new 12-35.

Default A Most Probable BUY

If the reviews say it's really really good I'll most likely sell my 9-18 UWA to help fund it.
With the OMD it will give me a perfect go anywhere single lens weatherproof kit for my purposes.
