Day 109 - in which pdh goes to Bath, and it is cold and damp

Didn't take many today, the weather wasn't very nice, and when I went into this place for a cup of tea, found my lens was covered in condensation ...

stuck at home again ... been out on different occasions during the day with the CV28/1.9, KH57/1.4 and ZD70-300 .. light different all day, often diffuse and shadowless (in a good way) ... many many "nearly" shots, but I couldn't seem to focus accurately today ... anyway, one of each to make it a 3PAD ... noit the most interesting or aesthetically pleasing of the bunch but quite defining of the day ...

Day 106 - in which pdh notices the wall

Posted December 1st, 2010 at 02:37 PM by pdh (he does what he can)

took two photographs of the final Japanese anemones today ... but it was first thing in the morning and it was COLD ... too cold to be patient in fact so they are not getting posted ... instead, something I noticed today in the middle of a meeting ... it'll have to do

Day 105 -- in which pdh gets very cold fingers

out for a walk after dark ... it must have snowed a bit here while I was at work (less than 20 miles away and where it was warmer and wetter) ... not sure whether I like the BW version or the desaturated colour version with the reds and oranges held ... Santa seems happy enough though

i think autumn might be here ... it was thick grey blanket of dangerous wetness this morning, though by lunchtime it was gorgeously blue again, come evening dense and soggy once more ... so I went for a wander and found an evening primrose moving a little in the air ... sharp where it's sharp, in some ways I wish i'd not had it so wide open and got some definition into the background ...

A stroll after dark with the 1.4 wide open ...IS couldn't rescue the 1/6s exposure though ... why didn't I just bang the ISO up to 1600? ... so, anyway, soft because wide, shaky because slow ... I so like the shapes, but I've tried a dozen different crops and can't quite make this work the way I want it ... denoised, sharpened, WB adjusted & desaturated a bit ... I've done what I can tonight ...

... Neighbourhood Watch Day ... I went out for a saunter in the gorgeous evening light, was standing photographing a lovely worn wrought iron kissing-gate, when a peremptory elderly voice asked me sharply what my interest was in taking photographs "in this area" ... I politely replied, that it was rather beautiful and that I like to take photographs ... she gave me to understand that I was a suspicious character who could be a burglar "casing" her house and that "as I expect you know, there is a...

another lens arrives today, this time a Hexanon 57mm f/1.4 ... very nice nick for a lady in her middle years, this lens must be 40 years old I'd guess ... focus is smooothysmooth, but images are very soft wide open ... I bought it on a whim almost, and it was substantially more expensive than the 50mm f/1.7 ... it also seemed to produce some very odd WB in some images (almost as if WB was set to fluorescent (which it wasn't)), unless the E-P2 was just having a turn ... so I had a wander around ...

A trip to a city today ... took only the 17mm and tried "shooting from the hip" ... from which I learned that on a cloudy September day in shadowy streets, it's no good relying on P-mode .. still there were some interesting shots survived the blur and shake, but this isn't one of them ... if it were a "6 photos a day" project, I'd be laughing ... still, I loved this geometrical array on sight once I unloaded the camera ... this is uncropped (hmm though I could have clipped off a smigeon from the...
