Blur man makes a return

Posted October 24th, 2010 at 08:38 AM by Ian_Holmes

Sorry for being absent for the last few weeks. Pressures of work.
Before all that I was sharing a few of my holiday pictures with you.
Here are some more. These are from one of the most beautiful places in the world. The Snowdonia national Park in North Wales.
This is the view from our hotel room in Llanberis. I was drawn to this pool of light that was sweeping slowly across the mountain. So instead of trying a horizontal or vertical pan. I panned the camera up the angle of...

The English channel - Blurred!

Posted September 20th, 2010 at 08:38 PM by Ian_Holmes

While we were in the UK we had a chance to stay with an aunt and uncle who lived in Folkestone, kent in an apartment that overlooked the English channel (yes I could see France and yes, I did try to do a blur-o-graph of the French coast more of that later maybe)
The mornings were alway gorgeous and the light on the water was too good to resist. Here then are a couple of blurs of the English Channel...

More blurs from the weekend

Posted August 22nd, 2010 at 07:54 PM by Ian_Holmes

These veed trees up at the cabin are a favourite of mine I've photographed them quite often and every time I get a different image

ISO 100 f8 3.2 secs 32mm ZD 14-42 ND4 + ND8
There's another tree in the front yard that lost a rather large bough a few years ago now. I've been trying to get a blur picture of that for a while as well today I tried climbing up a ladder to see what I could get...

Light Rain

Posted August 17th, 2010 at 09:24 PM by Ian_Holmes

Another one from the weekend.
This is probably the most abstract I've ever done. I really feel like I've stripped this one down to light and shadow. Shape and form are out the window. I love it. My wife isn't so sure she says there's nothing to focus on.

Any opinions/comments appreciated

Apres Georges

Seurat that is.
Heres the first of what might turn out to be several blur-o-graphs from a weekend away.
When I looked at the image I just felt that it looked like something The impressionist/pointillist Georges Seurat would have painted.

Two from Sunday

Posted August 8th, 2010 at 05:49 PM by Ian_Holmes

What will surprise you about these two pictures is when I tell you that they were taken within an hour of each other. This firat blur of the tree tunk was taken in beautiful early morning sunshine

ISO 100 F9 4 secs 42mm ZD 14-42 ND8
Within the hour fog had blown in reducing visibility to less than 100 yards at time.
