What a great way to gain experience, have some fun and watch what happens over time! Improvement! I pray!

As a rank beginner, I can only hope to improve, as I become familiar with the Holy 3 of Photography: ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed.

Learning how to use my GF1 to take the picture I meant to take rather than getting a good one now and then quite by accident.

This will be my place to grow and see what happens along the way.

To my new friends

Posted June 26th, 2010 at 01:43 AM by flyby (Photo of the Day)

I've been here for sometime..almost from the very beginning when Brian came up with this Picture a Day idea. I jumped at it with great enthusiasm and started snapping away. I took pictures everywhere and met a fantastic group of individuals along the way..my fellow Paders.

Each of you has enriched me personally and contributed to improving my ability, in some way, to be a better picture taker/photographer. It's been time well spent. I will miss those of you I've come to know here...

Bodie Gold Mine Ghost Town

Posted June 25th, 2010 at 12:11 PM by flyby (Photo of the Day)

Once a thriving community of over 10,000, it now is left preserved as a State Park. Not a tourist attraction, but simply preserved houses and businesses...meaning not restored or even open..just preserved as they were back when. Pic below is of one of the homes:

We hiked 4 miles into Little Lakes valley. Hannah hiked the entire route without complaint! To see this:

Perhaps too magenta..although LR showed little in that direction on slider. Redo

Vacation!!!!

Posted June 24th, 2010 at 01:50 AM by flyby (Photo of the Day)

Just got back from two weeks of camping on Rock Creek in the Eastern Sierra Mtn's. Although, June we enjoyed snow and freezing temps at night to awake to the beauty of spring just coming to the mtn's. The pic below is just across from our campsite.

Today at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills Cemetery. Veteran visiting grave site emotionally moved. Poignant scene of what this American Holiday is all about.

Yesterday in Balboa Park..lady selling balloons. She is completely over taken by balloons..you can hardly see her. She in shade..right behind her bright sunlight.

We all went off to the salon today for a day of beauty. Michaela, Hannah, Ava and I. You have to start them young to appreciate the ahhhhh of it. This is me..shot at F/4.5 1/30th second ISO 800 on Intelligent ISO setting. With 20mm lens. Still not sharp and some noise. C&C welcome!

Drive-Thru Dairy

Posted May 25th, 2010 at 11:07 AM by flyby (Photo of the Day)

Trying something new and taking the opportunity to learn. This was taken last night at ISO 1000 F/4.5 1/30th Sec with the 20mm lens. Handheld with available light. It is not as sharp as I am use to seeing and I have taken very few night shots. I like the pic and the figure of the skateboarder passing by, but feel it could be better. C&C welcome and appreciated.
