Coming from a 25 year film... Having my Olympus E-pl2 for just about a year now I have found it a great little camera but with some drawbacks. Coming from a 25 year film background and only about 6 years of digital I still am just learning about digital.

The Olympus is a great everyday camera, not something I use as a primary camera on a paying job but I have used it as a backup and it has done very well. There are really only two things I find a drawback to using it full time. One being IQ on those times I use high ISO. My main camera is a Nikon D300 with all pro grade lenses and it does a very good job on ISO upto about 3200. The Olympus just cannot come close to this, and I did not think it would but even at ISO of 1000, there are still problems.

The other problem I find is the shutter lag/blackout of the viewfinder/LCD. There are at times when that just causes to many problems. This is really not a big problem, but still one that I find a hard work around.

Right now I use the Olympus for walk around, travel and backpacking trips. It is such an upgrade over my old Nikon coolpix S2 P&S that I was using.

I am not sure if I will keep the Olympus as I have been looking at the Sony NEX series of cameras with the larger sensor. I have not used one but may rent one for a week and see what I think.

Overall I think the Olympus Pen cameras are great for everyday use but not so much for some paying jobs. I am a wide shooter so I like the wide lens options but would like to see faster wide options. Also some short, fast zooms, say the 12-35 range in a 2.8.

After playing around with the idea of using my Pentax Manual Lenses on an m4/3 system last fall, I kinda quit for 6 months. At that time, for me at least, it did not seem to be worth the "trouble". After all, I thought to myself, smaller sensor and an odd Electronic Viewfinder...

Currently, I've been using my G10 with Manual Lenses for the last few weeks, and quite frankly, it's been a pleasure. Maybe I did not give it enough of a chance, never read the manual or too into Pentax dSLR's; but the bottom line, manual lenses meter and focus much easier using the Panasonic than my Pentax bodies! For a Pentax user, metering a fully manual lens is quite a challenge, we have something called the "Green" button; which, stops down the lens and meters. All too often, the exposure will still be off a bit; meaning it may take you up to 3 tries to take one well exposed image. My G10 doesn't require any green button and metering is pretty much spot on. Focusing, using the manual assist magnifier is quite easy; the EVF stays bright no matter what aperture has been selected. So when it comes to simple metering and ease of focusing, the Panasonic wins every time!!!

Generally, images produced using the G10 and a Pentax Lens are, in the right lighting conditions, equal to my Pentax dSLR's. However, my biggest disappoint so far with my m4/3 setup is its seemingly very limited Dynamic Range. I have tried several times to save highlights, and most often they are lost or the balance of the image becomes unusable.
