Panasonic G diary: IR

Posted August 25th, 2010 at 10:16 PM by brnmatsumoto

Working with Infrared views again. The only problem is that the camera has very little sensitivity and I had to rate its iso to 5000 and settle for 1/8 second exposure. The results are noisy but workable. I generally remove the color from IR shots, but in one shot I tried some pseudo coloring. Have to come to a decision on whether I should start carrying a tripod around and reducing the iso.

Day 48 - Carmen, my violin

I found my old violin and got it restrung. I don't think I have ever named it, or realised there was a name on the bridge before. 'Carmen' is written on there, may as well name it that.

Now I have to get it retuned and start playing again.

Panasonic G diary: Full moon

Posted August 25th, 2010 at 01:13 AM by brnmatsumoto

It was a sweltering day in Los Angeles--and the bright sun, beating down on the city did not encourage photographic explorations. So I waited for nightfall and was awarded with a near full moon and a cool night air. Setup the telescope and admired the moon--but it was so brilliantly white that I did not expect to bet any usable shots. I removed the 2X extender and just used a 1.4X, so I was working at about 980 mm focal length. The moon did not fill the frame of the camera so when posting the image...
